Brigitte, the Winning Bulldog

Uggie was not the only the big winner at this year’s first annual Golden Collar Awards. Brigitte, a French bulldog, took home the 2012 Golden Collar Award for “Best Dog in a Scripted Series” for her role as Jay and Gloria’s swimming-challenged French bulldog in the popular ABC series “Modern Family”.

The ROBI Animal Protection Association is a non-profit organization in Bucharest, Romania, which promotes animal protection and welfare. Their volunteers focus on saving stray dogs and providing a better life until adoption.

They currently host approximately 155 dogs, providing food and veterinary services to the animals. Meet Hendrix

Hendrix is an 8-year old Stafford-shire Terrier Cross. He was adopted by his owner Sebastian from the Toronto Humane Society.

Hendrix was brought to the Humane Society when Animal Control was called to an apartment block after residents witnessed a man beating the dog with a broom handle. Hendrix was found, abandoned, in a garbage can, with cigarette burns on his body and paws. It’s thought that his previous owner was trying to make him into a mean fighting dog, but he was just too friendly!
